Special machine construction from Schaeffler opens its doors to visitors for the first time

As a global automotive and industrial bearings supplier that is deeply rooted in and with the region, Schaeffler has been involved in the “Long Night of Science” event for ten years and is the main sponsor again this year. On Saturday, May 21, 2022, Schaeffler will be there from 6 p.m. to midnight with two stations on the south site of the FAU in Erlangen and with its own special machine construction. With innovative technologies, products and services as well as a holistic view of the energy chain, Schaeffler helps to make movement and mobility more efficient, intelligent and sustainable and to achieve climate goals. “With a pioneering spirit, agility and innovative strength, we are shaping the transformation into a sustainable future. At the Long Night of Science, we will show which technologies and which strategy Schaeffler is taking on this path and invite all interested parties to experience our diverse and exciting program,” says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Schaeffler special machine construction opens its doors in Erlangen for the first time

As part of the Long Night of Science, Schaeffler special machine construction at Frauenauracher Strasse 100 in Erlangen is presenting itself to the general public for the first time. Visitors have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the development of production systems and in a modern development and working world and to experience virtual reality in plant construction and its commissioning. You can interact with robots and take part in an interactive tool change challenge. In addition, Schaeffler is showing the DTM Electric demo vehicle in special machine construction.

Schaeffler shows future topics and innovative technologies

In the lecture hall building at the Chair of Mathematics and Computer Science in Erlangen, Schaeffler is clearly presenting exhibits from the fields of CO₂-efficient drives, robotics, water, wind and aerospace engineering on two floors. In addition, Schaeffler shows applications of artificial intelligence in product development, in the product and in quality control. Hydrogen technology also plays a crucial role for Schaeffler as an automotive and industrial supplier for a CO2-neutral future. The company uses synergies along the entire value chain: from the production of renewable energies to the production of green hydrogen using electrolysers and its use in fuel cells. The hydrogen energy chain is clearly presented on one exhibit.

Career portal and training opportunities at Schaeffler

Interested parties can use a virtual “Experience Platform” to find out about training and study opportunities, jobs and careers at Schaeffler. A special highlight of the tour is the virtual replica of the training center in Herzogenaurach. Visitors also have the opportunity to test their manual skills on a virtual welding machine. Dual students and employees from the human resources department answer questions about training, study opportunities, jobs and careers at Schaeffler.
